Desert Night

We wound up a few days behind Mother Goose Times discover the desert theme this month, since everyone in our house has been sick.  Since the girls didn't want to miss out on anything before moving on to Aprils theme we wound up doubling up some of the days during the last week.
As always the crafts were the girls favorite part.  They made desert hare puppets, desert night pictures and rattlesnake rattles.  The desert night pictures would have turned out much better if I actually had black paint, we'll have to try them again once I pick up a new bottle.
We worked on literacy skills with a bunny letter hop game, I Can Read books, postcards, and my little journals.
To increase math skills the girls played a missing bunny number game, practiced patterning, and used the horse manipulatives to complete word problems.
The girls also had lots of fun searching for brown items in sand, pretending to be armadillos searching for bugs, and playing bingo.

Starting tomorrow we begin the new theme, bees and butterflies.  The girls have already dug through the box and examined all the the goodies included in it.  They can't wait to start.  To join in the fun place your order here.
