Saying Hello With Mother Goose Time

We started our new month, and also the new school year, with Mother Goose Time.  Their theme for September is Friends and Feelings.  The first topic for the month was Saying Hello.  We would normally start off with circle time, but I haven't had a chance to finish putting the new display together.  I should have it done in time for day 2.
We started off discussing:  What are different ways you say hello?   Then the girls used the blue paintbrush and went around the house finding blue objects.  We also sang "Say Hello."

The girls completed their name-tags and then made up dances to go with their names.  They also practiced greeting stuffed bears and each other.

The girls loved making their friend puppets.  They used them to practice greetings again and also to do a mini puppet show.  I have a feeling they are going to get a lot of use out of them.
We talked about how people say hello differently depending on where they are from.  We used the global friends game to practice saying hello in 6 different languages.  Addie used the cards to play a matching game.  Elli can't play memory yet so I used the suggested activity from the Little Goose book.  I gave her 3 different sets of card and she used pipe-cleaners to match the pairs.
One of the manipulatives that came this month were cute rubber school buses in different colors.  The girls have been playing with them ever since our box arrived.  They were supposed to use them today to drive them to the corresponding colored bus stops.  Elli just lined them up though, and didn't want to split them up.
Addie finished up the lesson with workbooks while Elli completed the suggested tray play activity.
