This months Mother Goose Time theme is at the pond. Week one was about life around the pond. We learned about turtles, snakes, frogs, tadpoles and ducks.
Every day has a suggested story to read. We always head to the library and find the book that is listed, or something similar if they don't have it.
Elli has been able to write her name for a while now, and I think it's largely in part to the name tags that she practises on every month. Using swedish fish to try and spell your name is good practice, and a great snack.
The my little journals that come every month are also a great way to practice handwriting.
Elli loved making a pull turtle, and even took it for a walk outside.
There were 2 invitations to create this week. Elli strung beads and cut up straws on a pipe cleaner for the snake day. On the duck day the girls made pond pictures on a plate with yellow pom pom ducks. Elli put her cellophane on top of her plate and said her duck was underwater.
In addition to the pull turtle make and play Elli also made a tadpole dancing wand and a frog headband. She loved wearing the headband and pretending to be a frog jumping on lily-pads.
Every monthly box comes with a new theme poster. During the first week look and find glasses are provided with objects to find and prompts to follow. Elli always loves using these.
Some of the other fun things we did this week were putting bags over our hands to see what webbed feet do in water, collecting turtle eggs until we had 7, sorting the rubber ducks from this months box by size and shape, making a snake out of blocks, patterning, making a playdough frog life cycle, playing frog jump, and working on recognizing letters while jumping like a frog or swimming like a fish.
