This week with Mother Goose Time we've been learning about bankers, chefs, hairdressers, shopkeepers and factory workers.
The favorite art project of the week had to be the robots. The girls loved making them. They also made chef hats, designed their own money, made curled paper sculptures, and created shopping bags. Art projects are great for improving fine motor skills. Elli had a hard time getting her paper to curl for her sculpture, and was getting really frustrated trying to get it to look how she envisioned. I had to show her how to make a curl a few times, and then guide her hands before she finally understood how to make it work.
The girls got a lot of literacy practise this week. I read the story of Stone Soup and the girls used the story telling set to act it out and retell it. They also took turns taking orders and serving each other food. Elli wrote her name for the first time ever without any help. She also practiced writing some more in her my little journal. The girls loved spelling words by turning the vault dial. Once they spelled the word right they got to open the vault and take some money out of it.
The girls did some addition and also worked on counting money. They really enjoyed seeing money from different countries and comparing it to the money we use.
Every monthly box comes with a new puzzle. This one had a picture of Bella from the story of the month.
