Beavers

We just started a new month with Mother Goose Time.  This months theme is bubbles, boats and floats.  Day 2 was about beavers.  Every month comes with a planning journal, which has the days schedule broken down.  For a more detailed explanation of the activities I use the teacher guide, which explains each activity in detail.
We always start off the day with circle time.  We just got back from vacation so I didn't get a chance to put the new display board pieces up.  Usually we would do the calendar and weather in addition to the above pictured tasks.  We still talked about the daily topic poster and did our opening song.
The girls made beaver puppets using the provided materials.  I love that all the supplies are included, except things like markers, glue, scissors, etc.  Instead of having to buy an entire bag of googly eyes for one project, and then finding a place to store the rest, I have the exact number I need.  It makes staying organized and cleaning up so much easier.
After reading Little Beaver and the Echo, the girls used their beaver puppets to practise echoing with each other.
The girls always have fun using the look and find glasses with the monthly theme poster.  They take turns finding the items on the glasses, and then they both follow the prompts on the back.
The girls took turns rolling a dice and adding the correct number of sticks to their beaver lodge, which they made using play dough.
For a snack the girls used pretzels and peanut butter to make a beaver lodge, then they ate them.
Even though it is still pretty cold, we were able to get outside for a little bit.  The girls worked together to build a dam using sticks and mud.  They filled it with water and fixed any leaks.
We finished up the day with dance n' beats, which is a monthly add on we receive.
