Ice

The girls absolutely LOVED learning about ice with Mother Goose Time.
During circle time Elli worked on counting blocks in groups of 7 and then used them to build an igloo.
I gave the girls a tub of ice and they tried to come up with different ways to make sound with it.  Their favorite way was to bite it.
Next up the girls went ice fishing.  They had so much fun with this experiment.  First I added water to the tub of ice until it floated, and then the girls tried to catch it with spoons.  They also tried using yarn to pick up ice, which obviously didn't work.  They each got a dish of ice cubes and added salt to the top.  They placed yarn on the ice and waited about 10 minutes and then picked up the yarn...ice fishing.  We talked about how the salt melted the ice and then it refroze on the yarn, making it possible to pick up.
The girls also really liked making fizzy ice.  There were so many fun ideas for today.  They each got another dish of ice and poured baking soda over it.  I added food coloring to vinegar and they used eye droppers to add it to their ice, making the baking soda fizz.
The girls made a house craft, complete with glitter icicles.
They also completed the letter V page in their my little journals.
We finished the day with a book.
